Press Release Body: Upul Chandana was awarded the Man of the Match in the Tiger's narrow win against the Delhi Giants. The top order of the Giants team which seemed stable became a victim of the great bowling of Chandana and got them a win by one run over the Giants team.
With this match, the Kolkata Tigers have made a stronger stand in the ICL Edelweiss Challenge and they have made it to the semi finals. The team won the toss and chose to bat first. However when the innings of the team finished, it seemed that they would not be able to pull off with a score of 142 runs which is achievable.
The team of the Delhi Giants initially seemed to all power and energy for the game. The openers started well but the middle order of the team crashed which is said to lead the team to a defeat. The highest scorer of the team was Gunawardene who scored 35 runs. the good bowling by the Tigers got regular wickets and kept them confined.
The Tigers also played well initially with the opener Dasgupta making a good start with his 35 runs but was dismissed soon. However it was Klusner who scored the maximum of 62 runs for the team and carried it all through the match innings. He remained unbeaten. The Tigers team had wickets in hand unlike the Giants but still they were not able to score runs that well due to the economical bowling that Giants managed.
The win was a very narrow one and it can be seen that it was achievable too. A little more effort from the Giants could have got them this match easily.
